Good evening all.
The club has recently received notification from the West Torrens City Council stating that we have been forced to close due to COVID-19.
Unfortunately this means we are unable to run the canteen, gather at the clubhouse or even play social tennis on the premises until further notice.
If you need access to the club rooms to retrieve any property or just have any questions in regards to this order please feel free to contact me.
Once again, this is an order from the council – not a decision made by the club.

IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: COVID-19 PANDEMIC
As you would be aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is a global health and societal emergency that requires effective and immediate action by governments, individuals and businesses. As custodians of our community, the City of West Torrens is obligated to ensure that we do the best to ensure the safety of our residents, ratepayers and our staff by following the directions given by the relevant authorities.
Last night, the Prime Minister announced sweeping new closures for council, business and community facilities across Australia designed to slow the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
Critically for local government, the Prime Minister’s announcement, which will be given the force of law by way of direction of the Commissioner of Police under the Emergency Management Act 2004 in South Australia, requires the closure of all non-essential local government services by midnight tonight, Wednesday 25 March 2020.
Among the local government facilities specifically singled out for closure are:
- Libraries and community centres, youth centres and community halls;
- Galleries, museums and historic sites;
- Recreation centres and swimming pools;
- Social sporting activities;
- Health clubs, fitness centres, saunas and wellness centres; and
- Indoor and outdoor play centres.
Consequently, your licence/lease with the City of West Torrens is now suspended and the premises must remain closed until notified otherwise.
Council will be considering a number of initiatives aimed at reducing the financial impact on affected organisations and more information will be provided as it become available.
This challenge is one that we have never experienced before and we ask for your ongoing cooperation in order to protect the health and wellbeing of our community.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your members the very best in these trying times.
Yes – trying times indeed…
