Peake Gardens Riverside Christmas Party this Saturday Dec 14 SEC=PUBLIC

Dear Slugs

Just a couple of quick updates on the latest happenings at your club………

Christmas Party this Saturday December 14th from 6pm

· This is the final day of tennis before the Christmas Break so seniors can come down straight from your matches whatever time you finish. There will be free courts for a hit all evening.

· There will be a delicious gourmet gold-coin-donation barbecue with salads included, ready at around 7pm. Anyone who wants to bring a dessert along to share can feel free to do so.

· If you have any special dietary requirements you can bring along your tofu burgers or whatever and we’ll cordon off a spot on the barby for you to cook them.

· We have also convinced Father Christmas to take time out of his busy schedule to swing by the club to give out some pressies to everyone who has been good. If you want your child to get a present from the Jolly Fat Man, please bring along a wrapped gift with their name on it to the canteen on the night.

New logo competition date extended.

We have had a number of entries in the new logo competition, along with a number of requests to extend the dates to give people more time to get their creativity on, so we are extending the competition into next year. More information will be provided when we come back from the season break.

Any completed entries can still be emailed to Nick the club secretary at pgrtcsecretary

The logo can be traditional or modern, any colours or shape you like. It can feature a mascot, a picture, or an abstract design. Basically it can be anything that represents our tennis club, so get your pencils out and let your imagination run free!

Christmas Break, matches re-commence Fri Jan 31, Sat Feb 1

Over the Christmas Break there will still be a few things going on:

Tennis SA are running Junior and Senior Tournaments all across the break in the lead up to the Australian Open, including Marcus’s Tournament at our club on Jan 18-21. See the Tennis SA tournaments page for more info.

There has been some loose talk about having a Golf Day in January, most likely Sunday Jan 5th or 12th. We’ll discuss it at length at the Christmas Party and hopefully come up with some details then and let everyone know. Please see Jeff at the Christmas Party if you’re interested.

You can also ring Marcus to secure a spot in any of his team’s busy coaching calendar. It is always a good time to shake the rust off your tennis game.

Keep watching our website www.pgrtc.net.au and join our facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/129870320401624/ to keep up to date on all the latest happenings at your club….or ring Jeff.

Dear Slugs

Just a couple of quick updates on the latest happenings at your club……..

Summer Subs are now due!

With the summer season well and truly underway, we are calling for all players to pay their subs as soon as possible. The honeymoon period for Senior and Junior subs ends on December 1st, so get your subs in early or you will be paying more. You can see our subs for the various categories on our web page at http://www.pgrtc.net.au/tennis-club-sa.shtml , or on the attached membership form.

New logo competition, $250 to be won!!

The time has come for a new logo and signage at our tennis club, and so sadly, the traditional Slug logo is to be retired.

I would just like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our old logo. Peake Gardens Tennis Club began in 1985 after renaming from Wulta Juniors Tennis Club dating back to the 1950’s. We adopted the Slug as our logo a couple of years later. Life Member John McKenna and Club Champion Tanya Hibell were the designers of the logo, which has adorned our shirts, caps and signage ever since. It is sometimes sad to see such a great tradition end, but we are entering a new era now and it’s time for a new brand.

To that end, we are running a competition to design a brand new logo. Entries are to be emailed to our club secretary at pgrtcsecretary no later than Thursday December 12th. You can do it as a picture file on your computer, or you can draw one by hand and send us a photo.

The new logo and the winner will be announced at the club Christmas Party on Saturday December 14th.

It can be traditional or modern, any colours or shape you like. It can feature a mascot, a picture, or an abstract design. Basically it can be anything that represents our tennis club, so get your pencils out and let your imagination run free!

Thursday Practice Nights continue!

Courts Open from 5pm, come on down to search for your lost form. Tee up a few friends to come down, or there should be plenty of people on hand for a hit.

Juniors please contact Marcus for Junior Squad training times.

You can also ring Marcus to secure a spot in any of his team’s busy coaching calendar. Now is a good time to shake the rust off your tennis game.

Keep watching our website www.pgrtc.net.au and join our facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/129870320401624/ to keep up to date on all the latest happenings at your club….or ring Jeff.
