Congratulations and thank you to all participants in the Club Tournament Singles on Sunday, and especially congratulations to all event winners including Jarrod Zidov – Boys Champ Singles, Ivan Brko – Boys Greenball, Eric Quin – Boys Div 6, Linda Kaplatzis – Girls Champ Singles, Sophia Kaplatzis – Girls Greenball, Luka Tesanovic – Men’s Handicap Singles, Cory Haskell – Men’s Club Champion, and Naomi Weston – Women’s Club Champion.

The Club Tournament continues this Sunday Feb 24th starting early at 9am with the doubles events.

The weather forecast is for hot weather Sunday, so our Tournament Director has decided we will run a shortened format if the temperature gets above 37 degrees, and the tournament will be cancelled altogether if the forecast is for 39 or above.

Events are:

Junior boys and girls champ doubles and divisional doubles.

Senior Men’s and Women’s Champ, Handicap and Mystery Mixed doubles.

To enter, please sign up on the entry sheets in the canteen, or email me back with your name, division and the events you want to enter. Please include the name of your doubles partner for doubles events.

Upcoming Events:

Last minor round game barbecue Saturday March 16th from 6pm.

We will be running a sausage sizzle after senior tennis on Saturday the 16th for anyone who wants to stay on at the club or come back from your away matches. The finalists can gloat and those missing out can discuss how it all went wrong.

Grand Final Night / Presentation Night Saturday March 30th from 6pm.

Starting from around 6pm, including season and tournament trophy presentations, dinner, drinks and hopefully we have some Grand Finals on during the afternoon too.

There will be participation awards for all juniors in Greenball and Orangeball Divisions, and a best aggregate award for each junior yellowball division including State League, along with the presentation of the AH Trophies and the Tony Meadows awards for the best season aggregate in the club for Juniors.

There will also be a gold coin donation gourmet barbecue dinner provided, more details closer to the event.

Slugs on Tour Jamestown Easter Tournament March 30 – April 2

A strong contingent of Slugs will once again be trekking up to Jamestown for their annual Easter Tournament. We had 30+ up there last year and anyone who remembers the dress-up party and Jeff’s Wildebeest calls can tell you it was a great weekend! Enjoy some country hospitality and some different tennis on grass courts. It’s a great weekend away and the more the merrier.

The tournament runs for 3 days starting Easter Saturday morning. Please email me back if you need more details.

Welcome back from the summer hiatus, with an extra week off thrown in with the extreme heat, which didn’t actually seem too hot after a 46 degree day a few days before. I hope everyone has enjoyed the break and festive season and are all ready to get back into tennis.

The Club Tournament is on very soon, with Singles events on Sunday Feb 17th, and Doubles the next Sunday Feb 24th .

Events are:

Junior boys and girls champ singles and doubles, divisional singles and doubles.

Senior Men’s and Women’s Champ singles and doubles, handicap singles and doubles, Mystery Mixed doubles.

The Golf Day in January was a roaring success, with some wonderful golf and comedy on display. Many thanks to Dave Henderson for organising and Chris Parker for driving the drinks cart. Great day had by all, it’s not important who won, as I didn’t!
