Div 3 and Div 11 both made the Grand Final held on August 30, the last shocking day of winter, with Div 11 being washed out and the title being handed to minor premier Colonel Light West. Div 3 soldiered on through truly dismal weather to finally finish victorious under lights over a gallant Mellor Park. Congratulations to the boys on a great season in a quality competition, and to Matt Rymill for organising the team all winter and for his truly heroic efforts in holding back the floodwaters armed only with his faith and a squeegee to allow the boys to finish and James to play without getting his little toes too wet. 20/3/08 Senior Premiers Div5 Ladies, Div 7 Ladies, Div 5 Men. Yes after multiple washouts, heatwaves and delays, the Grand Final was finally played and won by the victorius Slugs. End of year cocktail party at the clubrooms. 20/11/07 Casual Club Night 24/11/07. Please get in touch with Matt Rymill or Steve Lowe if you are interested in playing. 28/9/07. Tuesday Night Tennis commences 2nd October. See the Night Tennis page for details. 28/9/07. Well its all been happening at Peake Gardens Reserve over the winter. West Adelaide Tennis Club has officially vacated the reserve and the two remaining clubs, Peake Gardens and Riverside have merged to form the Peake Gardens Riverside Tennis Club. The inaugural AGM for the new club was held in August, the constitution was accepted by the members present and office bearers were elected. See the Contacts page for details of the office bearers. What this all means is that as one club we are now in a far better position to make improvements to the facilities at Peake Gardens Reserve and to administer all activities that go on here. So everything from social tennis, juniors, seniors, night tennis, coaching, all dealings with outside organisations (like the Council) are all done as one club and everyone knows where they stand. 28/9/07. Speaking of improvements, great strides have been made with improvements to the facilities making Peake Gardens Reserve now one of the best and plushest tennis complexes in the state. A new canteen, freshly painted and carpeted interior, rendered exterior, new pergola and massive timber deck. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour and come on down to check it out. You'll never want to leave! Go to the photos page for a few snaps. Thanks to Liam from Softwoods for the great deal on the timber, to the builder Darren from Scribe Carpentry & Construction 0404933229, and thanks to the club members volunteering their valuable time and energy to get this project over the line. Too many to mention here but you know who you are. Cheers! 28/9/07. Winter Pennant Tennis has finished for the season with a senior Men's Div 3 and a Senior Women's Div 6 flying the flag as the first teams to compete under the combined Peake Gardens Riverside banner. (Please note that this is not Senior as in Senior Citizens, but Senior as in not junior! One look at Matt's cherubic features will confirm this). The men finished 6th in their comp, with the women making the finals but not quite managing to capture the flag. Thanks to Matt Rymill and Ali Sorell for organising the teams, love your work.
